Today my fishing buddies were my son
John and Evan Kosmac and his father George for a fathers day fishing
trip. Evan flew in from his job in South Carolina just for the fishing
trip with his dad.
Started the day as usual getting a few pogies for our slow
trolling efforts and off to 8A we went. The bite was steady but not so
red hot but we managed to get a limit of kings in fairly short order.
Also managed a release on a short Cobe as well. We then went offshore
trolling for Mahi and boated three gaffers and lost one at the boat due
to a pulled hook that probably would have weighed around 25 pounds. We
also had a shot at a small Marlin when I was reeling in a jumbo ballyhoo
to get the weeds off and the marlin hit the ballyhoo right after the
weeds came off and I dropped it back to him and felt the weight of the
fish for just a few seconds but was unable to get a solid hook up.
The weather was beautiful and it was great sharing the day with my
son and Eric and George and there was plenty of fish to go around for a
Fathers Day fish fry, yummy! Final tally for the day:
8 Kingfish kept for the table
3 Mahi-Mahi
1 Cobia released to grow up.
1 Barracuda released to grow up.
