Today my fishing buddies were Brad and Faith Zimmerman and their eight year old son Hayden, a really nice family from the fine state of Missouri out for a half day of fun in the sun and a fish dinner to follow. I really enjoy having the young folks on the boat to see the sparkle in their eyes and the abundance of excitement when they get their first opportunity to catch a fish that pulls back really hard.
   We started the day as usual running down the beach to the area of the steeple where one toss of the net filled the live well with pogies. The Zimmerman's had a lot of fun doing the pogie pickup and unlike usual I decided to give it a go on the beach. I had heard that the kings had moved in on the beach and the buoy line. I splashed our first bait less than a quarter mile off of the beach and within five minutes it was game on.
    For a half day trip on the beach you couldn't have asked for anything better. We circled the same area for the entire half day and had almost non-stop action and the final tally for the five hour trip was a lot of fun and a really great way to introduce a really fun young family to the best that East Central Florida has to offer offshore.
    It's days like these that make my job not a job at all!

7 Kingfish limit to 23 pounds.
8 Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks released to fight again.
2 large Jack Crevalle released to fight again.
